CMS retained Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) and Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) continue to scrutinize medical necessity decisions, seeking definitive documentation supporting the severity of illness and intensity of service.  Medical necessity documentation - or lack of it - is one of the most common reasons for claim denials, therefore ensuring accurate documentation to establish medical necessity is critical to the success of home health agencies.  This webinar taught by a skilled and experienced RN/PT offers insight and tips for strengthening documentation and provides clinicians with the tools to assure that their documentation of every patient visit reflects the need for the skilled medical care this is being provided.

  • Understand the Medicare regulations for Medical Necessity
  • Understand the Medical Necessity criteria for Therapy and Nursing
  • Understand documentation requirements for compliance and demonstrating the provision of skilled services

Nancy has over 20 years of home health experience working in many different areas; starting as a staff therapist in the field, rehab director, director of referral management and community relations and most recently as a consultant for a national home care consulting firm doing therapy documentation training, OASIS training for therapists and nurses, record audits for Medicare compliance and HHCAHPS education and action plans for clients. She was an RN for 10 years working in a SNF setting prior to becoming a Physical Therapist.
